George Washington High School is focused around innovative learning that ranges from direct instruction to online learning to project based learning. With a school capacity of 200, class sizes are small. This provides teachers the opportunity to work with each student individually to create a more deliberate and specific plan for the student’s learning outcome, graduation and future goals beyond graduation. Our students can also explore Career and Technical Eduction (CTE) pathways through our partners like Ogden-Weber Technical College and Weber State University. Additional elective opportunities through Ogden School District include concurrent college enrollment (CE) and Advanced Placement (AP). Ogden School District also offers students International Baccalaureate (IB) opportunities.
GWHS teachers and administration challenge their students to ARISE, which is creating an environment where they take accountability for their actions, respect others and themselves, stay involved in the community, promote safety and strive for excellence.
Key Elements for Success: Structured environment that promotes individual needs. Project Based Learning with hands-on projects to enhance skills. Six mini-terms per school year to measure progress and show achievement. Partnerships with local community organizations such as United Way to provide support and education to students with special circumstances.
